UEH Institute of Business Research contributes insights on green transition to elevate Vietnam’s regional standing on Mot The Gioi News
Over the years, the Institute of Business Research (IBR) - University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has conducted numerous impactful studies in the fields of sustainable development, circular economy, and green finance, contributing significantly to Vietnam’s policy formulation and strategic development. Continuing this mission, Professor Vo Xuan Vinh, Dean of the IBR, published an article on Mot The Gioi News titled “Chuyen doi xanh de Viet Nam vuon tam khu vuc” presenting an in-depth academic perspective on Vietnam’s role, responsibility, and opportunities in advancing a green and sustainable future.
According to Prof. Vo Xuan Vinh, the green transition is no longer a choice but an inevitable path forward. Vietnamese enterprises must break away from the outdated linear economic model of “extraction - production - disposal,” which causes massive resource waste. Instead, the circular economy mindset should be integrated right from the product design stage, emphasizing the use of recycled materials and the optimization of product lifecycles. By adopting clean technologies, enhancing energy efficiency, and improving transparency, businesses can meet the stringent global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards. Prof. Vo Xuan Vinh emphasized that the green transition serves as a “mandatory passport” for Vietnamese enterprises to survive, grow, and integrate deeply into international value chains.

The article further points out that Vietnam is at the “eye of the storm” of climate change, with over 25% of its population at direct risk of environmental impacts. In this challenging context, green transformation is the only viable route to ensure national energy and food security while maintaining sustainable growth.Following its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 at the COP26 Conference, Vietnam has demonstrated strong determination and concrete actions toward a cleaner, greener, and more globally integrated future.
Prof. Vo Xuan Vinh also noted that new European Union policies such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) are creating a “dual transition pressure” but simultaneously opening opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to upgrade standards, enhance transparency, and strengthen global competitiveness.
Through this publication, the Institute of Business Research - UEH reaffirms its pioneering academic role in generating knowledge and supporting the Government and enterprises in shaping Vietnam’s sustainable development strategy. The Institute remains committed to spreading the spirit of “Connecting Knowledge - Fostering Creativity - Advancing Sustainability,” contributing to Vietnam’s journey toward regional and global prominence.
