Professor Vo Xuan Vinh Represents UEH-IBR at the GBA-ASEAN Conference 2025 on Trade, Finance and Sustainable Development

On October 31 and November 1, 2025, Professor Vo Xuan Vinh, Dean of the Institute of Business Research (IBR) at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), was invited to participate and speak at the prestigious GBA-ASEAN Conference on Trade, Finance and Sustainable Development.

The event was co-hosted by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN), the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and the Qianhai International Research Institute. It convened government leaders, leading academics, and experts in economics, finance, and sustainable development.

The Conference marked the official launch of the GBA-ASEAN Initiative (GAI), which aims to foster collaboration on trade, finance, and infrastructure between the two regions. It also seeks to establish a platform for strategic dialogue and policy research aligned with the national development strategies of China and ASEAN.

During the Fourth Panel Discussion on October 31, themed “Human Capital as the Engine for Economic Growth, Sustainability, Peace, and Cross-national Collaboration”, Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh, along with speakers from the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the University Grants Committee (Hong Kong), shared profound insights on the strategic role of human capital in sustainable development and regional cooperation.

Furthermore, on November 1, he was also an invited speaker for the Third Panel Discussion titled “Protecting World Welfare Threatened by Deglobalisation”. This session featured top regional academic figures, including Prof. Woo Wing Thye (The University of Hong Kong, University of Malaya), Prof. Hai Wen (Peking University), and Prof. Ooi Kee Beng (Penang Institute, Malaysia). Discussions focused on viable solutions to safeguard global welfare amidst the rising tide of deglobalization.

The invitation extended to Professor Vo Xuan Vinh to attend and speak at one of the region's most reputable academic and policy forums underscores the international recognition of UEH's and the Institute of Business Research's research reputation and scholarly contributions. Through collaborative and exchange activities at the conference, UEH-IBR continues to affirm its commitment to promoting interdisciplinary research, connecting global knowledge, and accompanying sustainable development initiatives within the GBA-ASEAN region.
