UEH in Collaboration with the University of Huddersfield Launches the Joint Doctoral Program in Business and Management

On October 16, 2026, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), in partnership with the University of Huddersfield (United Kingdom), successfully hosted the Opening Ceremony of the Joint Doctoral Program in Business and Management (specialization in Economics and Management).

Attending the ceremony, representatives from UEH included Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh – Dean of the Institute of Business Research.

From the University of Huddersfield (UK), the event welcomed Prof. Abhijit Sharma – Director of Strategic Partnerships, Huddersfield Business School (School of Business, Education and Law).

Notably, the ceremony was honored by the presence of the pioneering cohort of doctoral candidates: Ms. Duong Viet Anh Thu, Mr. Truong Quang Nhat Minh, Mr. Nguyen Vu Khang, Mr. Duong Van Bac, and Mr. Vo Hoang Hai, alongside steering Program Management team and distinguished guests.

In his opening address, Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Huddersfield and emphasized high expectations for the strategic partnership between the two institutions.

Prof. Abhijit Sharma expressed his sincere appreciation for the hospitable reception from UEH, while affirming a strong commitment to close collaboration in developing an international-standard program, elevating research capacity, and generating sustainable academic value for both universities.

Representing the academic leadership from UEH, Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh shared the academic vision and operational mechanism of the program. Accordingly, each doctoral researcher will benefit from dual supervision by experts from both universities, accompanied by dedicated support from the Program Management Board. He emphasized the expectation that candidates maintain rigorous academic commitment, complete their studies on schedule, and publish international papers in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Operationally, UEH serves as the primary focal point managing administrative, financial, and academic affairs in accordance with Vietnamese law, while encouraging candidates to take part in direct academic exchange at the University of Huddersfield.

Prof. Abhijit Sharma underlined that the curriculum is designed toward outstanding research quality, solving real-world challenges for the community, and mastering advanced analytical tools. In particular, the Professor highlighted the originality of scholarly research, affirming that AI only plays a supportive role and can never replace the independent critical thinking of doctoral researchers.
