The Institute of Business Research (IBR) under the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) respectfully introduces the International Joint Doctoral Training Program in Economics and Management with the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom.
This is the highest level of research training, designed to equip doctoral candidates with independent thinking capacities, in-depth analytical skills, and the ability to create original new knowledge, meeting the stringent standards of British education.
1. Training Objectives
The program aims to train highly qualified, independent scientists and researchers in the fields of Economics and Management who possess advanced theoretical and applied knowledge, capable of independent and creative research development, teaching at universities and colleges, and leading scientific research and professional activities.
2. Training Structure and Modes
The program is flexibly structured to accommodate professional researchers and working lecturers:
Mode of Study
The entire research and dissertation writing process is conducted in English.
- Full-time Mode: Minimum duration is 24 months, standard completion time is 36 months, and maximum duration is 60 months.
- Part-time Mode: Minimum duration is 48 months, standard completion time is 72 months, and maximum duration is 96 months.
- Note: Doctoral candidates are not permitted to submit their dissertation prior to the specified minimum duration of their respective track.
3. Research Roadmap & Milestones
To ensure output quality, the University of Huddersfield applies a strict progress control procedure. Doctoral candidates must pay close attention to the following “vital” milestones:

| Note | At least 3 months prior to thesis submission, an “on track to submit” meeting must take place between the candidate and supervisors. | ||
- Supervision and Support Mechanism
At the Institute of Business Research, we commit to accompanying doctoral candidates throughout their academic journey:
- Supervisory Team: Each candidate will be guided by two supervisors (Supervisors).
- Supervision Meetings: Regular supervision meetings are organized periodically (at least once a month for Full-time and once every two months for Part-time).
- Recording System: The content of these meetings must be recorded (logged) on the online management system to serve as evidence of the training process.
