Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) and the University of Huddersfield (UoH) Establish Strategic Cooperation

   On October 18, 2024, UEH initiated a strategic cooperation relationship leading to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Huddersfield (UoH), United Kingdom.

   Representing the University of Huddersfield were Prof. Monty Adkins, Dean of the Graduate School, and Prof. Abhijit Sharma, Director of Graduate Education. The Institute for Business Research (IBR) at UEH was represented by Dr. Phan Thi Nha Truc, Director of the International Joint Program, and the staff of IBR.

The Cooperation between UEH and UoH

   The University of Huddersfield (UoH), UK, is one of the prestigious universities with over 190 years of history. The University is currently ranked in the top 15% of universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings and has received the "Teaching Excellence" (Gold Award) in the UK's Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), recognizing Huddersfield's commitment to providing a high-quality learning experience for students. Huddersfield is regularly ranked in the top 50 of The Guardian University Guide and is ranked in the global top 200 for delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023. The University is also highly rated in The Complete University Guide and The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide for its outstanding teaching and research quality. In Engineering, Huddersfield is ranked in the world top 500 by QS World University Rankings by Subject, while Business and Management is ranked in the global top 250. Education is ranked in the UK top 10 by The Complete University Guide and The Guardian University Guide, and Creative Arts is also highly rated by The Guardian University Guide and The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide for its creativity and innovation in teaching and research.The exchange between UEH and UoH marked a significant step towards the signing of an MOU, encompassing numerous strategic elements to foster comprehensive cooperation in education, research, and professional exchange. Both parties reached a consensus on the exchange of faculty and experts, while facilitating academic visits and exchanges, thereby sharing knowledge and experiences in teaching and research. Notably, postgraduate education cooperation was emphasized, aiming to develop high-quality educational programs and expand learning opportunities for students, with a focus on enhancing academic and research capabilities.

   The two parties will intensify the sharing of academic information to promote in-depth cooperation in research and teaching. Simultaneously, student exchange programs will be encouraged to provide undergraduate and postgraduate students with opportunities to participate in international study programs, enabling them to experience diverse and enriching academic environments and strengthen cultural exchange. Leveraging UEH's internal strengths and commitment to sustainable development, the strategic discussion with UoH has opened up opportunities for signing an MOU in the near future. This event not only solidifies the long-standing cooperative relationship between the two institutions but also creates new opportunities in education and research, bringing positive values to both parties.

   Recently, UEH was ranked among the top 501-600 universities worldwide according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025. Contributing to a comprehensive and robust internationalization journey, the IBR has been actively promoting the search for and building of international cooperation relationships with prestigious partners worldwide. Through this exchange, a significant step has been marked in international cooperation in education, research, and professional exchange, affirming UEH's crucial role in the global education community.

   With a restructuring strategy aimed at developing UEH into a multidisciplinary and sustainable institution in the 2021-2030 period, UEH is committed to making a positive contribution to the sustainable future of the community and society. The university focuses on positioning the value for both domestic and international learners, aiming to train talented candidates to become global citizens, leaders who drive change and promote sustainable development.
