The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City attends ASEAN Ministers Workshop - AMW on sustainable development in Malaysia

On July 21 and 22, 2023, UEH's delegation included: Dr. Dinh Cong Khai – Vice Rector; GS. TS. Vo Xuan Vinh – Director of the Institution of Business Research; ASS. TS. Tran Dang Khoa – Head of the Strategic Management Department attended the "ASEAN Ministers Workshop (AMW) 2023" seminar on sustainable development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This workshop was co-organized by the ASEAN Secretariat and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) to provide Ministers, stakeholders, and experts from 10 ASEAN countries and Australia with the opportunity to discuss energy issues,  education, ecosystem conservation, and partnerships for sustainable development. The workshop serves as an important forum to discuss and affirm each country's commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ahead of the 2023 SDGs Summit at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

At the workshop, Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh represented the Vietnamese delegation to present the discussion: "Vietnam's power sector decarbonization". It presents the current status of carbon emissions, the potential of using renewable energy in Vietnam, and the policies Vietnam can apply to reduce carbon emissions in the future, thereby contributing to the goal of neutralizing greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 that Vietnam committed to at COP26. Report of GS. TS. Vo Xuan Vinh was highly appreciated by policymakers and experts at the workshop and is considered a typical case for ASEAN countries to refer to.

With the orientation of developing into a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, UEH has actively carried out research and training activities, as well as participated in activities on sustainable development. Currently, UEH is in the process of promoting a group of Vietnamese experts and researchers to participate in the United Nations Network of Sustainable Development Solutions (SDSN). With its activities, UEH expects to make positive contributions to the process of implementing Vietnam's commitments to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
