From Learner to Master of Knowledge: The Journey of a PhD Candidate

This is a real-life story from one of the candidates in the Lincoln Joint Training Program. MSc. Le Tran Tuan Anh is currently a PhD candidate in the joint program between UEH University and the University of Lincoln. Honored to be invited to the Info Session for the Lincoln joint doctoral program on July 18, 2026, Mr. Tuan Anh accepted the invitation and shared insightful and practical experiences directly from his own study path.

At the info session, he expressed his delight in participating and noted that it was a great opportunity to connect and converse with prospective candidates. One of his remarks enlivened the atmosphere of the session: “Studying for a PhD at Lincoln has opened up new career opportunities for me…” he shared.

Sharing from Mr. Le Tran Tuan Anh at the Info Session

Why can this be affirmed? The joint doctoral program between UEH and Lincoln demonstrates this through its actual quality. It is a high-quality program partnered by two leading universities in management and economics. Upon completion, candidates are awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Lincoln, which is recognized both domestically and internationally, as well as officially accredited by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.

The clearest proof of the training quality lies in the achievements of alumni, notably Mr. Nguyen Truong Son and Mr. Pham Tien Minh—two PhD candidates who recently successfully defended their doctoral dissertations at the University of Lincoln.

Candidates Engaging in Discussion During the Info Session

Also at the session, candidates shared their perspectives and raised key questions about the program, particularly regarding the training format and duration. Addressing these points, participants expressed great interest upon learning that this is a part-time program lasting from 54 to 96 months. During this time, candidates spend 10 flexible weeks studying and conducting research at the University of Lincoln (UK) throughout their study duration. Mr. Tuan Anh added that during their research process, candidates are co-supervised by two faculty members—one from the University of Lincoln and one from UEH—while working in a modern academic environment fully equipped with facilities to ensure quality from day one.

Furthermore, Mr. Tuan Anh spent time discussing tuition fees and scholarships. He affirmed that choosing a PhD at Lincoln is a smart decision for an academic journey at an affordable cost. He highlighted that students in Vietnam only need to invest half the tuition cost compared to candidates studying full-time in the UK, while still enjoying fully equivalent research and training quality. In addition, candidates have opportunities to receive scholarships and funding support up to 70% of tuition fees. These factors strongly motivated him to pursue his doctoral degree through this joint program. The path from a learner to a master of knowledge is never easy, but with the support of two prestigious institutions—UEH and the University of Lincoln—the goal of earning an international-standard PhD degree is fully within reach. At the close of the event, candidates were encouraged to take their first step toward career advancement by applying today.
