International Conference on Business and Finance 2019 hosted by IBR-UEH

Following the success after the AsianFA Conference 2019, the Institute of Business Research continued to host the “International Conference on Business and Finance 2019”, organized by UEH and held on August 22 – 23 of 2019. Through this conference, we expected to create an open opportunity for Vietnamese and international scholars to connect and share their ideas in the fields. Better than expected, the conference has attracted more than 150 researchers to participate, exchanging their recent studies, and proceeded for publication. The conference marked a major milestone of IBR-UEH in our role of connecting, exchanging, and promoting international publication opportunities for domestic and foreign scholars and researchers.

ICBF 2019 Overview

Attending the seminar, on the guest side, there were Dr. Johnny Noe E. Ravalo - Managing Director, Supervision & Examination Sector; Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas; Professor Tran Tho Dat - Chancellor of National Economics University; Associate Professor Péter Szilágyi - Head of MS in Finance Program; CEU Innovations Lab Head of FinTech Section; Associate Professor Marta Gasparin - Deputy Director of the Ph.D. Program - University of Leicester; Associate Professor Martin Quinn - Regional Development and Public Policy - University of Leicester. On the UEH side, there were Professor Nguyen Dong Phong – President and Professor Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice President. In addition, this conference gathered more than 150 leading domestic and international experts along with many international researchers, lecturers, and Ph.D. students. The conference is geared towards research in all areas of Business, Finance, and other related fields.

The International Conference on Business and Finance 2019 attracted more than 192 submissions from prospective authors around the world. After being reviewed by the editorial and peer review committee, 114 articles were accepted, 77 papers were presented at the conference, and 37 articles were included in the proceeding. The workshop was organized in 3 parallel sessions and 1 plenary session. This conference is not only large-scale but also appreciated by the research community with its high and professional quality, confirming a long step forward of UEH in its internationalization strategy.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Professor Nguyen Dong Phong - President of UEH emphasized the importance of business and finance in the context of the digital era. As the Organizing Committee of the Conference, the President wishes to provide the best, dynamic and professional environment for exchange and collaboration between Vietnamese researchers and international scholars to discuss opportunities, challenges, and strategies of the financial and banking system under the industrial revolution 4.0. In addition to the introductory report, the workshop's presentations focused on many areas:

• The hot topics in financial management and the financial market in the context of the digital era as well as ongoing issues in Vietnam such as Virtual currency, Online payment and its safety, Asset valuation, Blockchain, and Behavioral finance, etc.

• Contemporary issues in Marketing, International trade, Business administration, and Customer behavior, etc.

Speaking at the opening session, Associate Professor Peter Szilágyi, Head of MS in Finance Program, and CEU Innovations Lab Head of FinTech Section present important strategies and provide useful guidance and advice for researchers and graduate students in the publication in prestigious international journals. Associate Professor Peter Szilágyi has several years of experience as an Editor for the Journal of Multinational Financial Management.
