INTRODUCTION

University of Lincoln – UEH Joint PhD Program is an international joint training program awarding degrees from the University of Lincoln, offering opportunities for in-depth research and academic development in a global environment.

1. Admissions Information

The PhD degree in Economics – Management is awarded by the University of Lincoln. It is internationally recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Target Candidates:

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in a major or specialization appropriate to the field of Economics or related fields according to current regulations;
  • Minimum English proficiency of Grade 5 in the GCSE system, IELTS 6.5 (with no skill below 6.0), or equivalent; See more information on foreign language requirements here.

2025 Admissions: Rolling admission (applications are accepted continuously).

3. PhD Program Structure

  • Duration: From 54 to 96 months.
  • Study Mode: Part-time, wherein the candidate must dedicate at least 10 weeks to direct study and research with their supervisor at the University of Lincoln.
  • Language of Instruction: English.
  • PhD candidates are co-supervised by 02 supervisors (1 supervisor from UEH, 1 supervisor from Lincoln);
  • PhD candidates will participate in courses and scientific seminars at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) or the University of Lincoln through a blended-learning format.
  • Candidates must complete the MPhil program before transferring to the PhD program.
  • The PhD dissertation defense will take place at the University of Lincoln (United Kingdom).

Admission Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in a major or specialization appropriate to the field of Economics or related fields according to current regulations;

Application Dossier: Rolling admission

Please prepare 5 sets (1 original, 4 copies) of the complete application dossier in the following order:

  1. Application form;
  2. Curriculum Vitae certified by local authorities;
  3. English CV;
  4. Scientific resume/background certified by the employer or a competent authority;
  5. Notarized copy of English proficiency certificate;
  6. Notarized copies of Bachelor’s degree and university transcripts; *
  7. Notarized copies of Master’s degree and Master’s transcripts; *
  8. Research proposal according to the University of Lincoln’s standards and guidelines here (2026 Research Proposal Topics here). (Candidates please submit 05 hard copies and 01 soft copy (PDF file) to the email address below to facilitate the appraisal and evaluation council members).
  9. Notarized copy of Citizen ID card/ID card or Passport;
  10. Evidence of published research works (if any);
  11. 2 recommendation letters from scientists/academics;
  12. Two 3×4 photos (taken within 1 year), with full name, date of birth, and place of birth clearly written on the back.

  • Regulations on the entrance research proposal for the Lincoln PhD program: To highlight the perspectives and assess not only the professional knowledge but also the soft skills and personal development potential of each candidate, as well as to ensure alignment between the program content and the goals and future orientation of each candidate, the proposal content must be related to one of the topics (2026 Research Proposal Topics here). The results of this evaluation process not only help select the most suitable candidates matching the program’s requirements and criteria but also provide personalized support to optimize the learning experience and career development of candidates in the future.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and transcripts must have notarized English translations if the documents were issued in Vietnamese.
  • Degrees issued by foreign educational institutions operating legally in Vietnam must conduct educational activities according to the regulations in their license and be recognized for quality by Vietnamese or foreign educational quality accreditation organizations.
  • Candidates should verify both the hard and soft copies of the dossier and tick the files in the Document Checklist.
