Institute of Business Research Organizes the Seminar “ES Pay and Firms’ Environmental and Social Conduct”

Upcoming, Professor Roni Michaely will be the distinguished speaker at the seminar “ES Pay and Firms’ Environmental and Social Conduct,” scheduled to take place at 9:00 AM on April 3, 2023, at Institute of Business Research, UEH (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City).

Professor Roni Michaely is one of the few finance scholars globally renowned for his contributions and is recognized as one of the most outstanding financial researchers of our time, with over 25,000 citations.

His research primarily focuses on topics such as: the impact of capital market disruptions on corporate decision-making and product development by managers; corporate payout policies; the effects of competition on corporate behavior; and the influence of fintech on capital market efficiency.

Highly regarded for his expertise, Professor Michaely's research has consistently appeared in prestigious academic journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, The Review of Finance, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.

His work is also frequently featured in prominent publications such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, The Economist, Investor's Business Daily, Bloomberg, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Barrons, and others.

Since 1996, Professor Michaely has received numerous awards and accolades, including:

  • The Pagano-Zechner Award for Best Paper: “Are U.S. Industries Becoming More Concentrated?” published in the Journal of Finance in 2020.
  • The Outstanding Research Award from the Eastern Finance Association in 2017.
  • The Jensen Prize in 2005 for the best paper published in the Journal of Financial Economics in the area of Corporate Finance and Organizations for the paper: “Payout Policy in the 21st Century.”
  • The Fama Award from the Journal of Financial Economics in 2005 for the best paper.
  • The Smith Breeden Award from the Journal of Finance in 2000 for the outstanding paper: “When Underwriters are Market Makers: An Examination of Trading in the Aftermarket of IPOs.”
  • The Western Finance Association Award in 2000 for the best paper on capital formation: “Market Maker Formation: From Entry to Equilibrium in Nasdaq Trading.”
  • The Barclays Global Investors/Michael Brennan Award from the Journal of Financial Research in 1999 for the paper: “Conflicts of Interest and the Reliability of Analyst Recommendations.”
  • The Western Finance Association Award in 1999 for the best paper: “When Underwriters are Market Makers: An Examination of Trading in the Aftermarket of IPOs.”
  • The Quantitative Alliance Group Award in 1996 for the best paper.
  • The Western Finance Association Award in 1996 for the best paper on investments.

Additionally, Professor Roni Michaely is a co-founder of Gina Life, a healthcare startup, and currently serves on the Board of TipRanks, as well as being an Advisory Board member for Mogul, Hyro, and Nielsen Innovate. He was the Director of the Israel Securities Authority (ISA) from 1998 to 2003 and served as the Chairman of the Tachlit Investment Committee (mutual fund). He has collaborated with scholars from Asia, the United States, and Europe on corporate finance research and has worked on research projects with numerous scholars from these regions.
