Three speakers presented on the following topics:
Speaker: MSc. Tran Thu Thao presented on Topic 1: "Overview of E-Government."
Speaker: MSc. Nguyen Phan Truc Phuong presented on Topic 2: "Vietnam on the Path to Building E-Government Towards Digital Government."
Speaker: MSc. Dao Van Han presented on Topic 3: "Recommendations for Solutions to Develop E-Government Towards Digital Government in Vietnam."
The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the current status of e-government development in Vietnam and proposed recommendations for transitioning towards a digital government.
E-government represents a new phase in human society's development, considered a cultural revolution with profound implications for all aspects of life. It refers to the use of information technology by governments to provide services such as passport issuance, tax collection, public fund management, and low-cost welfare distribution with high efficiency. The principles of e-government emphasize transparency, democracy, and openness.
The development of e-government is an unavoidable trend and a popular model in many countries today. While there are various definitions of e-government, they share a common characteristic: "E-government is the application of information technology to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state agencies, improve transparency and information disclosure, and provide better public services to citizens and businesses."
The implementation of e-government has achieved certain milestones and is moving towards the goal of establishing a digital government. The unprecedented spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated technology application across many sectors, particularly in the public sector, which has garnered significant attention from policymakers. The seminar focused on analyzing the current state of e-government development in Vietnam and proposing solutions to address the challenges in the transition towards a digital government.
Through this seminar, the Business Research Institute at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City aims to organize more discussions on economic issues and enhance research quality, facilitating training efforts that contribute to the development of Vietnamese scientific products to reach global standards.
